The Liebster Award

I recently have been nominated for the Liebster Award by the gorgeous Cat Malone - http://mentallybeautiful.com/

For anyone who is unaware of what this award is all about, look no further, I will explain all.
The Liebster Awards is an award given by blogger to other bloggers who have less than 200 followers.
The main focus of this award is to encourage new friendships and connections with other bloggers. When nominated you are given 11 questions to answer in a blog post.

The rules are as followed:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.
  2. Display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)
  3. Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.
  4. Provide 11 random facts about yourself.
  5. Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have less than 200 followers.
  6. Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.
  7. List these rules in your post. Once you have written and published it, you then have to:
  8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)

1. Is your blog serious or a hobby in your spare time?

Umm well at the beginning I was taking it very seriously and would post constantly, now not so much, I think it's now a hobby.

2. How would you define your blog?

I would have to describe it mainly as a beauty/lifestyle blog

3. What achievement are you most proud of?

Crickey...I really had to think about this one. I think maybe my proudest achievement so far was moving to the UK on my own,
(sounds so lame) but it really made me grow up and do things I wouldn't necessarily have done before.

4. Where do you like to be when you are blogging?

I literally do not mind where I am as long as I am completely alone, being around other people distracts me and therefor can't focus.

5. Which blogger do you admire?

Now this is going to sound so cheesy as she is the one who nominated me but Cat Malone at http://mentallybeautiful.com/

6. Why?

Cat is a blogger in which I hugely admire because not only is she an amazing person but her blog is also,
I've seen her blog grow and blossom into something truly fantastic.
No matter how stressed out or busy she gets, she always seems to come out with these brilliant posts
(in which I oh so envy her for lol)
I could literally read her blog for hours on end, 100% fantastic, I can see it going along way in the near future!

7. If you could write about a topic you don't currently blog about what would it be?

I would write about World War II, I have a weird interest with it (don't ask)
I mean it would probably bore everyone to sleep, so that is why I'm not a blogger of history!

8. What's your signature beauty tip or trick?

Hmmmm I'm not sure if I have a signature beauty trick or tip... I think my only religious beauty trick I do is, when applying
bronzer to cheekbones I also apply it to my jawline as it helps to define it.

9. What's the most important thing you took from your school days?

Well I was never very good at school, but I would have to say I learnt not to take crap from anyone and to just be yourself,
If you want to do something go and do it, don't let anyone stand in your way.

10. Where would you like to be in five years time?

I'd like to be in a hot country, on the beach, with a drink in my hand :P

11. Have you written a bucket list?

No I have not, I think once I get a bit older I might consider it as it's a great idea :)

Eleven Facts About Me

1. I had my appendix removed on valentines day, nothing says romance like blood and guts

2. My favourite animal is a capybara. Fun fact, they're the largest living rodent, insert image here --->

3. I've dyed my hair 9 different colours

4. I went to college to study hair & media makeup, didn't enjoy it so left

5. I strongly dislike small dogs

6. I have an intolerance to milk, if I drink it my head will explode and I will DIE

7. My favourite film is E.T

8. I'm a truly terrible swimmer, I may drown left unsupervised

9. I have a gold fish called Harry

10. I hate the cold

11. I have an obsession with halloumi

I Would Like To Nominate

My Questions For You

1. What's your favourite song at the moment?

2.
Which item could you not live without?

3. What is your favourite thing to blog about?

4. Where is your favourite place in the world?

5. Why?

6.  Do you have any hobbies besides blogging?

7. Can you play any musical instruments?

8. What are you scared of?

9. Do you prefer tea or coffee?

10. Why did you start your blog?

11. What are your 3 wishes in life?

And a special thanks to Cat again for nominating me, and getting me back into blogging

Very Thirsty Hair!! (Bleach London Review)

Hi everyone,
So recently I've had quite a bit of trouble with my hair, this is a bit of a long story, so sit back and relax for this one!

About a week ago I got it into my head that it would be a great idea to go blonde! (Side note, I have been blonde before and am naturally a dirty blonde,so I do know the whole process of going blonde) last time I went blonde I did it professionally at a salon, this time I took it upon myself to dye it (this was never a good idea) at the time I had brown hair with blonde ombré, so just dyed the top blonde, obviously it turned out a brassy orange, I then went off and got bleach and I actually think I bleached my hair twice in the same day (which is NOT a good idea EVER) basically I ruined my hair and it was completely dead and lifeless as to be expected!

I then ended up dying my hair back to brown and wanted to get my ombré back!
I left my hair brown for about a week as I didn't want to damage it even more by doing the ombré! I decided to try and find some hair masks to try and put moisture back into my hair and repair it, I got a few but none of them really helped

UNTIL..........

I came across this hair mask from Bleach London, I have never heard of this brand before and thought it looked quite good! It is called Bleach Reincarnation Mask,it claims to resurrect and hydrate bleached or coloured hair and improve elasticity. And is enriched with sunflower seed extract and micro wheat proteins to give great shine and strengthen colour vibrancy.

This is what made me me buy this product as it is designed for damaged bleached hair, I'm not going to lie, I did think this was going to be another one of those products that claim to do all these wonderful things to your hair but not actually help the problem what so ever!

This here is what the product looks like

So it says to wash hair with shampoo, towel dry and then apply mask to damp hair, leave in for about 15-20 minutes and wash out.
I applied it to my hair as directed, and wow!!!! Just wow!!! I was actually so surprised with the outcome, like my hair was so unbelievably damaged before, and after using this it has made my hair practically back to normal! It made me so happy to see my hair looking normal again, and was finally able to have my fringe down instead of pinned back!
So if you have bleached the crap out of your hair or is in bad shape and you think there's no hope for your hair ever getting healthy again, before you reach for the scissors I definitely suggest you go out a pick this up!! It's in boots for only £6.00 which is a killer price!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Let me know if you have used this product or any other products by Bleach London, would love to hear your thoughts & opinions!

20 Beauty Myths

20 Beauty Myths

Hey all, today I'm going to be sharing with you 20 beauty myths.
So sit back, relax & enjoy!

Myth no.1

  • Pumping your mascara brush makes for better application
You may think you’re picking up more mascara, but actually air is being pumped into the mascara tube, making your mascara dry out and go clumpy. This leads to dry, flaky lashes and bacteria in the mascara tube. Instead, swirl the wand inside the tube to pick up more mascara.

Myth no.2

  • Once your blush shatters after dropping it, it’s done
Hang on to that shattered makeup, ladies. All you need to do is pour rubbing alcohol into the broken compact or container and gently mix until the makeup turns to a clay consistency. Wait for the product to dry and you are set with makeup that’s good as new!

Myth no.3

  • Wearing makeup every day is bad for your skin
While wearing tons of makeup can be heavy on your skin , wearing makeup on a daily basis won’t actually make your skin worse. Although, a day with no makeup feels great! The real cause of skin damage is leaving makeup on overnight.

Myth no.4

  • Your shampoo familiarizes itself to your hair and no longer performs
It’s great to change up hair products, it’s not absolutely necessary. If your hair is feeling flat, dry or damaged after continued use of one specific shampoo, don’t blame the shampoo! Usually, the problem is due to build up from hairsprays, serums & oils. If this happens, try a clarifying shampoo once a week.

Myth no.5

  • Filing your nails can be done in any direction
Always file your nails in the same direction, this makes your nails to grow faster and longer. Filing from both directions on one nail can lead to breakage and peeling.

Myth no.6

  • Steam opens pores
Let’s be clear on one thing, pores do not have muscles or hinges, no amount of steam or cold water will open and close them! Steam will simply help to loosen the dirt inside.

Myth no.7

  • If you leave your hair for long enough it will begin to clean itself
A clean scalp and hair equals a healthier scalp and hair. When left for 3-4 days the scalp can become flaky, itchy and uncomfortable with a mild tenderness and the hair itself will become dull and lank. So wash your hair!

Myth no.8

  • You'll eventually outgrow acne
In fact, women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and even 50s can have acne just like teenagers, and the treatment for it remains the same.

Myth no.9

  • Expensive cosmetics are better than inexpensive
The absolute truth is that there are good and bad products in all price categories. It's all about the formulation, not the price

Myth no.10

  • It's good when your products cool or tingle skin
This sensation is your skin telling you it is being irritated, not helped.

Myth no.11
  • Blackheads relate to cleanliness and can be scrubbed away
Blackheads may make your skin look dirty, but they are unrelated to dirt

Myth no.12

  • Antioxidants can make wrinkles go away
While antioxidants help ward off free radicals, they can't make existing wrinkles disappear.

Myth no.13
  • Popping a spot is fine if only done once in awhile
Please try your hardest to leave your skin alone, especially during a breakout! Messing with a spot will spread oil and bacteria to the clean parts of your skin.

Myth no.14

  • Obsessive face washing can eliminate acne
We know it seems backward, but over washing your face will dry it out and remove natural oils. Stick to washing your face twice-daily, once in the morning and once at night.

Myth no.15
  • Tanning in the sun clears up bad skin
Sun exposure just causes additional skin irritation and damage. Make sure to cover your face with a good oil-free sunblock to prevent any irritation if you're going to be out in the sun.

Myth no.16
  • Certain cleansers can make your pores smaller
Pore size is genetic, there are tons of products out there claiming to shrink the size of your pores, they don't work to minimize pores permanently. What they can do is temporarily make your pores appear smaller

Myth no.17
  • Matching eye shadow will make your eye color pop
Actually, contrasting your eye makeup with your eye color is what will really stand out. Here are a couple recommendations based on your eye colour

  • Green/Hazel: Plum, deep browns, and light golden hues
  • Blue: Smoky charcoals, chocolate, and bright berry tones
  • Brown: Soft pinks, natural beige, and shades of bronze

Myth no.18

  • Cutting your hair will make hair grow faster
I wish this one was true, but your hair will grow at its own pace (usually about half an inch per month) no matter how many trims you get. Don't just stop getting your hair trimmed, as it will look much healthier without the split ends!

Myth no.19

  • You don't need sunscreen on a cloudy day
The sun's damaging UV rays are still in full effect even on a cloudy day.

Myth no.20
  • You Only Need One Foundation Colour All Year
You may think that your skin tone doesn't change throughout the year, but it does. Even if you're someone who doesn't spend a lot of time in the sun, your skin still slightly changes from season to season. Don't be one of those people who walks around with a face that doesn't match their neck! (not a good look)

That's my 20 beauty myths , hope you enjoyed reading this and found it somewhat helpful or interesting. Don't be afraid to leave any comments you may have, I love to hear what you have to say.
Till next time

My Nightly Routine

Hey everyone,
Today I am going to go through my nightly face routine for all that may be interested in what I clean my face with. Side note, I also do this every morning.

To start off I like to cleanse my face. I like to use Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm. I slightly wet my skin beforehand then I apply the cleanser to my face and neck in a circular motion. I then use cotton wool balls soaked in water to rince off.
Anyone who has never heard of Elemis it is a British spa and skincare brand. If you're interested click the link below to check out their site.

http://www.elemis.com/

I then either pat dry my skin or leave it to dry naturally. Once dry I will quickly take a cotton ball and use Darphin Micellar water on my face and neck. This stuff is really good as it not only neutralizes the bad effects of tap water but also remove a any dirt that may still be lying on the skin in a gentle matter.

After this step is done I will tone my face and neck again with cotton balls. I like to switch my toners now and again so I like to either use Darphin Purifying Toner or Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner.

Lastly I apply moisturizer, I use Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.
This leaves my skin feeling soft, clean and looking radiant.

And that sums it up for my daily face routine,
Hope you enjoyed, if so don't be afraid to leave a comment

Pop art/comic book makeup

I decided to do a pop art/comic book themed makeup tutorial.
I have done this once before and on a first try it turned out actually really good. I will go through the steps to achieve this look.
Side note, obviously this is something for a fancy dress or themed party, this isn't for a everyday look.
Start off with a clean bare face, tie hair back off face as you don't really want any face paints getting in your hair.

I start off by using white face paint, I simply just get a sponge slightly dip it in some water and then apply face paint to the sponge and directly onto the entire face. Make sure to blend into hairline and ears. When you've achieved the ghost look get a small paint brush and fill in the eyebrows with black face paint, you'll want to make these slightly more dramatic than normal. You'll then need to outline a few facial features such as, two lines between eyebrows, a thin line down the bridge of the noes, curved line around nostrils, outline the lips, draw a curve over the crease of the chin. Then outline all around the hairline, inside and around ears and jawline.
You will look very creepy to start off with, as I did here.

After you've outlined some of the facial features you're now going to get the end of a brush, dip it into red face paint and dot in lines to cover entire face, you do not need to cover eyelids in dots.
This stage may take a while, patience is key.

After this stage is complete, sticking with red, simply fill in the lips but try and leave a little space to fill in with white.
Next the eyes, you're going to want to use liquid eyeliner to line the top lid with the cat eye style. For eye shadow you're going to want to use a block colour. Apply liner to the water line also.
Lastly apply black mascara to open the eyes a bit more. If you're feeling really adventurous add false lashes for a bigger bolder look.
So there you go, thus is how you achieve the pop art/comic book style look.
Hope this was in anyway interesting and helpful. Please also let me know if you wanna see me do a video tutorial of this.

My Everyday Makeup Routine

For my everyday makeup I like to try and keep it light, simple and not too over dramatic.
I start things off with a clean bare face. I then go ahead and moisturise my skin. This is the most important step in my opinion as it puts lost moisture back into the skin. I also find that makeup sits better when moisturised.

After I have moisturised I will apply concealer on the dark circles around my eyes and on any imperfections/blemishes I may have on that day. I then just lightly pat it onto and around the areas where have been applied.
I was using the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, but sadly ran out. So I am currently using Essence Stay Natural concealer in number 03 soft nude.

I then apply my foundation with a flat faced brush in a downward motion so that foundation doesn't get caught in the little baby hairs. I blend all the way to my ears, hair line and neck/jawline.
I am using the L'oreal Infallible 24H foundation in 125/ natural rose.
May I also note, this smells like summer!

Next I will go ahead with eyes, I will firstly apply Urban Decays Eye Primer Potion and then sticking with Urban Decay, use the Naked one pallet. Going for quite a soft natural look I would use Virgin mixed with Sin.

I then will use a little bit of highlighter on the brow bone, I use Benefits High Beam

After the eye shadow is applied I will then apply mascara on top and slightly on lower lashes, I find this gives me more of a open eye look, as I have quite long and thick eyelashes.
I am using Maybelines Great Lash mascara in colour blackest black.

BROWS my eyebrows are so important to me, I can't go anywhere without filling them in, I use eye shadow to fill them in, I use NYC HD Colour in number 815 Best of Broadway. I mix two colours together as I feel this gives me the best result with matching the colour of my brows. I use a angled brush to do this.

After the eyes are all done I will quickly powder  my face with Me Me Me Flawless Loose Powder. This just sets my foundation and gets rid of any oiliness.

I will then throw on some bronzer on the cheekbones to just inject some colour into my face. I am using Essence Matt Bronzing Powder in number 01 natural. Unfortunately I dropped it and now it has formed into a crumbly powder, it still does the trick though!

Last but not least I will apply some lippie to make my lips stand out. I am using an Essence lip stick in number 01 and it is called Coral Calling.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post.
